Overview

As psychiatrists, we assess and treat mental health conditions. Mental and physical health are closely linked, so we will also consider how other health conditions impact your mental wellbeing.

Some conditions and symptoms that we address are:

  • Feelings of persistent sadness, grief, or hopelessness

  • Frequent worry or anxiety that is negatively impacting your quality of life

  • Feelings of isolation, loneliness, cultural dislocation or homesickness

  • Traumatic stress (e.g., recurring memories, avoidance, mood swings, irritability or anxiety that started after a traumatic incident)

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Substance use problems, especially when accompanied by other mental health symptoms

  • Hallucinations (e.g., hearing or seeing things that may not really be there)

  • Odd experiences or beliefs that may not be consistent with reality

  • Repetitive or compulsive behaviors that interfere with your quality of life

  • Peri- and post-partum conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts or symptoms that have negatively impacted your life during the birth or adoption of a child)

  • Issues for LGBTQ+ clients (e.g., stress associated with discrimination or nonacceptance, psychiatric evaluations for gender-affirming surgeries)

Additional Considerations

Sound Mind Psychiatry LLC offers appointments predominantly through telehealth/ video technology. In our experience, telehealth offers the ability to form a trusting patient-provider relationship in a convenient and accessible manner.

To ensure telehealth visits are successful, you will need a private location and a stable internet connection with the bandwidth to support video. Telehealth is not optimal in certain situations. If appropriate, we will recommend you seek face-to-face services elsewhere to receive care.

Sound Mind Psychiatry LLC is not able to assist with emotional support animal letters or disability evaluations.
